Corning, CA- The Northern California Section of the Professional Golfers Association (NCPGA) is pleased to announce that Sevillano Links at Rolling Hills Casino has been selected as the new home site of the Northern California Open Championship. This rich-in-tradition tournament will be contested September 13-15, 2010 here, on site at the nationally-ranked, John Daly Signature-designed course (Corning, CA) located north of Sacramento on the I-5 corridor.
The Northern California Open Championship is a 3-day, 54-hole stroke play event which will attract a field of seasoned players from various courses and clubs throughout the Western United States. An impressive list of players find their names etched on the tournament trophy including defending champion Todd Fisher, as well as George Archer, Matt Bettencourt, Peter Jacobsen, Tony Lema, Roger Maltbie and David Sutherland, to name a few.
“Our links-style course was designed with great precision and detail, and always with the intention of hosting an event of this caliber,” stated PGA General Manager, Brian Dahmer. “For those who’ll be contending in the 2010 Nor Cal Open, there’s no question our course will be an ultimate test of talent.”
Conducted by the Northern California PGA (NCPGA) in conjunction with the Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) this championship has been contested at various venues over the years, prior to securing Sevillano Links as its new home. “It has been our desire to establish a home site for the Nor Cal Open at a premier golf course, one that maintains impeccable standards and has national recognition,” stated Chris Thomas, executive director with the Northern California Section of the PGA. “Additionally, we’ve been in search of a facility that possesses all the supporting amenities required when conducting a tournament of this stature. Fortunately, Sevillano Links at Rolling Hills Casino meets every aspect of our event criteria.”
Sevillano Links has received several special recognitions including: Top10 of Best New Public Courses by Golf Digest Magazine [2008], Golfweek’s 50 Best New Public Course list [2008] and Golfweek’s Best Casino Course list [2008 & 2009]. Besides 800 slot machines and table gaming opportunities, the resort has two lodging options with the Ramada Inn and Vagabond Inn Hotel, plus four dining experiences, an RV Park & Travelers Lounge, and pet care on site too, plus hunting and fishing adventures available through the neighboring Clear Creek Sports Club. “We are proud of our championship-quality course which is an integral part of our full service resort,” stated Kate Grissom, Director of Marketing with Rolling Hills Casino. “Our goal is to provide a venue that’s in pristine condition from tee to green with practice center, lodging, dining, and plenty of gaming opportunities all located on-site.”
